Alé - "The term is used when addressing to an older woman."
Plaza Miranda was a common venue for the masses to hold political rallies, watch contests and other events. This was also where the famous bombing in 1971 occured which was part of then President Ferdinand Marcos' plan in order to impose Martial Law. After years in a tattered condition, it was renovated into a Roman-style square complete with pillars and arches. Plaza Miranda is found right across Quiapo Church.
