Maldivian food is uniquely diverse because of the country's nature. Some dishes are local originals while others are products of influences by the countries that surround it. The prevailing taste is that of Muslim cooking because the people's Muslim identity. Traditional ingredients include coconut, fishes, and starch. The staple food is the coconut fish curry, and the streetfoods include fihunu mas or barbecued chili fish chunks, theluli mas (deep fried chili fish chunks), Bajiya (fish, coconut, and onion stuffed pastry, keemia or deep-fried fish rolls, and kulhi borbikaa (spicy fishcakes).
