Maldivian culture is rich with flavors which are the possible remnants of the seafarers who set foot on its land long time ago. Traditional dances and music are performed on occasions such as the bodu-beru (big dru) where men and women participate. The Thaara which is a dance performed by Male is among the top traditional dances practice in the island.
Like the uniqueness of the location, cultural events such as naming of a new born child (Bodumaloohu) and circumcision (Eid Festival) are also unique in a way for having all sort of ceremonies such as praying followed by a festive meal after the Bodumallohu and tasting cocktails after the Eid Festival.
Much of the food is heavily influenced by the Indian subcontinent with the obvious use of spice in their cooking such as the garudhya or tuna soup with spicy curry.
