The Jagannath Temple that is found in the town of Puri is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Krishna, also known as Jagannath. It is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindu worshipers of Vishnu and Krishna. It is part of the Char Dham, a pilgrimage that requires Hindus to visit certain places at least once in their life. This is the only shrine that is found in the country where the goddess Radha lived with Lord Krishna.
The Jagannath Temple is also famous for other festivals and celebrations, most notably the chariot festival known as Rath Yatra. This is when the three main temple deities are placed on beautifully decorated chariots and hauled outside.
