India's history all began in the Indus River Valley. Established by the Aryan people, the ancient Indian history witnessed a sequence of empire changes from the ancient times up to the medieval times. The first empire built was the Mauryan Empire. This was followed by the invasion of Alexander the Great, which was deliberately deleted from Indian history texts. After Alexander the Great, India remained under another race's rule. The Kushans, nomads from Central Asia conquered a part of the kingdom. The Kushan rule only ended with the death of the leader, King Kanishka. What followed after is another empire called, Gupta. This empire ushered the golden days of India that was only ruined by the invasion of the Huns. The next kingdoms that came after Gupta tried to pick up where the Guptan King left off. The country flourished but soon was under the hands of fierce colonizers again. However, as the years went by, the Indian society found the alternation between freedom and colony tiring. Soon they took arms and decided to struggle for liberty. All the effort exerted for this freedom paid off as today the country is experiencing growing prosperity.
