The Indian culture is as colorful as the saris of its female citizens. Its long history and demography largely contributed to its hybrid ways. Some people are inclined to the Vedic ways, others to the Buddhist ways, Islamic traditions, while others are into European religion. Most people have more than a hundred gods, while others only one and in spirit form. The caste system, which is a world famous labeling of members of society, originated from this country and it heavily influences human lives. Values of family and shame prevail in society. The affluent people are highly regarded by people of lower status. Their ways of life and some traditions also vary. However, despite the disparity in many aspects of culture, the country celebrates three festivals common to all. These are the Independence Day, Republic Day, and the Gandhi Jayanti. During these feasts, the entire country forgets the differences in beliefs and become one solid nation.
