Generally, the country is very safe for foreigners or travelers. The only enemies are petty crimes like theft and extortion which are common to other countries as well. Travelers must at all times keep an eye on their belongings in order to prevent theft and be careful of some locals. It is best to always stick with guides or family members of the homes being stayed at.
Aside from this, the ivory Coast has only very few citizens who can speak English. As it is with other countries, travelers are advised to do research prior to travel. Tourists should carry around French-English and vice versa dictionary or phrasebook in order to prevent miscommunication with the locals.
