Brunei's local currency is the Brunei Dollar (B$) and has a 1:1 rate with the Singapore dollar. Visitors coming from Singapore don't need to exchange their money. Expect travelling costs to be twice of what you spend in Malaysia and equal to prices in Singapore. Stricter budgets can be stretched by eating in local restaurants and staying in accommodations that charge about 30.00 BND (21.43 USD) a night.
Since the government is not strict about taxes, no tax charges are paid. The nonexistence of tax makes it easier for foreign residents to spend on their necessities and other hobbies. Brunei is a very rich country, with oil as a major income source. Oil costs are very affordable, making it easy to get around in a car.
