Because of its sophisticated beauty, BVI's have swarms of visitors all year round. However, not all of these travelers got to the islands easily.
Those who got lucky
Nationals from UK, US, Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and Ireland are not required visas to enter the islands. They are only to present a valid passport upon arrival and they are granted up to 30 days stay in the country. For lengthened stays, they may also apply for extensions.
Those who didn't
Unlike the initially stated nationals, the citizens of some countries may not easily enter the BVI's. There are those who require visa to be able to enter the country. This Deputy Governor of BVI's website has the list of the said countries. http://www.dgo.gov.vg/index.php?mpageid=153
The gate-pass
For the citizens of the countries with which BVI's have no entry-without-visa provision, the requirements to acquire the documents are a completed visa application form, two recent passport-sized photos with white background, a valid passport, a visa fee of 25 USD, a sponsor's letter, confirmation of hotel booking, bank reference, and a copy of the itinerary. These may all be submitted to the nearest British Virgin Islands Consulate or embassy in the country of origin of the applicant.
Issuance and validity
The document takes four weeks to three months of processing. When issued, it would normally be valid for at least three months.
