The history of Afghanistan consists of a series of invasions by countries surrounding it. Unfortunately, its geographical location made it an easy target for colonization, if not, the place to do the war over another country. Many kingdoms were established on its land before it was finally recognized as the country it is now.
The year 1973 is the advent of the first Afghan republic, declared and led by Mohammad Sardar Daoud Khan. However, the constitution promulgated under this government did not effectively stop the country's political instability. By 1978, after an uprising began by the People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) the country finally achieved democracy.
In the year 2000, the country played a huge role in world history as it was the camp of the infamous Osama Bin Laden, allegedly the person behind the 9-11 incidents.
