The American Museum of Natural History recently unveiled a one-of-a-kind 11' x 4' tapestry made entirely out of spider silk.
Conceived by Madagascar textile maker Simon Peers and fashion designer Nicholas Godley, it glows gold - being made from the silk of the golden orb-weaving spider.
Taking four years to finish, it cost around half a million dollars and used thousands of spider silk lines. The creators also said that the material is unusually strong, but is as soft as cashmere. That may be all well and good, if not for the price.
So, if you're in New York, or are planning to go there, don't forget to visit the museum and see this exquisite wonder - you won't see anything like it anywhere else!
