Suriname possesses a tropical humid climate. It has two main seasons, the dry and the wet. The short rainy season occurs during December and January, while its long counterpart happens in the months of April and July. On the other hand, the short dry season occurs in the months of February and April while the long dry season takes place during August to December. Hurricanes do not occur in the country as it lies outside the hurricane zone. The worst weather condition that may be experienced in Suriname is a heavy rain shower, natively called "sibibusi".
