Overstaying and illegal entry in Singapore

Singapore has strict penalties for overstaying or illegal entry. Be sure to check the validity of your tourist visa and follow the prescribed number of days. Those caught overstaying or committing illegal entry will be slapped with up to six-months jail-term or a minimum of three strokes of the cane. Caning is practically getting hit by a few hard strokes from a thick rattan cane. When caning cannot be administered for some reason, the offender will be slapped with a S$ 6000 fine instead.
