Singapore Good to know |
Singapore is a small country with a big concern on immigration and tourism laws. Although there are numerous ways to enter the country, it is still followed by strictly enforced laws. Generally, people who want to enter Singapore need a valid travel document with a minimum validity of six months, as well as other elements like an onward and return ticket, entry facilities to the next destination, and sufficient funds to stay in the country. In case of a need for extension, it may be settled by getting permission from the immigration department.
Like most countries around the globe, Singapore requires Visa only to citizens of some countries. Citizens coming from the US, Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Norway, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Iceland, Luxemburg, Japan, and the Republic of Ireland need not acquire Visa to enter the island. Also, countries which are members of the British Commonwealth except for India are not required. These, as well as citizens with diplomatic or service passports from the Philippines, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Netherlands, San Marino, Switzerland, Thailand, and India are also not required to have visa.
For citizens who need to have Visa, they may apply for one in the immigration department. Documents necessary for processing are a valid passport, two fully-filled up application forms, passport size photos, Singapore journey details and a proof of enough funds to go around with. Upon presentation of the said requirements applicants may wait from four days to four weeks for the issuance. Afterwards, everything else is pure clean adventure around the small but terrible island of Singapore.
