More about Saudi Arabia costs
Saudi Arabia's official currency is the Saudi riyal (SAR), with an exchange rate of 3.7450 SAR to 1 US dollar. The riyal comes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 riyals and one riyal is divided into 100 halalas. Most transactions are made in cash but more medium to luxury hotels, shops, and restaurants are accepting credit cards. Poor rates are offered in top-end hotels. The exchange rates are more advisable in moneychangers located in town centers and souks.
Most prices are quite expensive, costing about 200.00 SAR (53.33 USD) for a budget traveler. For midrange accommodation and comforts, a daily budget of 300.00 SAR (80.00 USD) to 400.00 SAR (106.67 USD) is needed. High end travelers can afford to spend about 1,400.00 SAR (373.33 USD) a day to get around and enjoy top end hotels. Pricey restaurants usually have a 10 percent service charge but this is sometimes waived due to lax regulations. Ask waiters if they receive the service charge and if not, you can opt to tip them instead.
