Only a few islands in the Marshalls have guesthouses, and they are Jaluit, Bikini, Arno, Rongelap, and Likiep. If you have to travel elsewhere in the country, you have to contact the island’s mayor ahead of time and arrange for accommodations in a council rest house, or for a more unique experience, in a schoolhouse. Be advised that the outer islands do not have running water, electricity, and flush toilets.
If you want to know how you can arrange accommodations in a schoolhouse or a council rest house, you may get in touch with the Marshall Islands Visitors’ Authority, P.O. Box 5, Majuro, Marshall Islands 96960, telephone number (692) 625-5482), fax number (692) 625-6771, and email address: tourism@ntamar.net.
