Falkland Islands is considered a dangerous place by some because of its magnificence. Many tourists are compelled to stay in the country longer than what was planned. However, for others people the country is literally dangerous. Due to the conflict that arose in the 1980's parts of the country was dipped in darkness.
Landmines
Some areas of the country still have active landmines installed underground. Tourists must be aware that going out to the fields can pose a great danger. If it is not possible to stay within the city alone, travelers must get a copy of the updated map from the military in order to have an idea on which places are safe and unsafe. It is also advised for travelers to tour the destinations with a tour guide.
Training grounds
Apart from areas with landmines, travelers are also forewarned about parts of the country that is being used for military training. Travelers who are not aware of these places might get caught in crossfire. Thus, as with the landmines, a military map is also required to keep away from training grounds.
