When coming to the country of Bolivia, tourists are advised a number of things as to keep their trip a hassle-free and memorable. Here are some.
About roads
The road in Bolivia may be considered as one of the worst in the world. They are bumpy and drivers are terrible. All tourists are advised (if they are renting cars) to drive very slowly and carefully. Even a simple road accident can make a supposed to be good trip an ugly one.
Another thing on Bolivian roads is that bus travel is not advised to tourists. The trip is very dusty and prone to mugging and other petty crimes. At times, rebels get on the bus and start robbing the passengers.
On the other hand, the cabs are only slightly dangerous. It is best to hire the ones registered to the airport to be sure that the driver is legit and to avoid experiencing extortion from abusive ones.
About mosquitoes
Mosquitoes abound in Bolivia as in any other sun and forest countries. Thus, all tourists are asked to carry around mosquito repellants so as not to return to their homeland full of red bumps on their skin. The bites are not deadly but they are very itchy and irritating.
