The culture of the Bahamas is a combination of European and African culture. This is due to the island settlers who brought with them the culture of their original country. It also has a hint of Gullah culture brought by the Gullah people who were sent to the island after the American Revolutionary war.
The country's music has African influence, with sounds mostly from percussion instruments. The dialect is also from the Africans, as well as the nation's most popular festival, the New Year's Junkanoo Parade. On the other hand, the religion was derived from the Spanish people. Most of the population is Christians. Some aspects of the arts are also from the Spaniards, like quilting and some canvas art.
