Cao Bang Province Travel Guide
Blessed with spectacular waterfalls, lush greenery, and a simple lifestyle, Cao Bang is Vietnam's take on the rustic escape. Located at the country's northeastern frontier, the province's prime lure is the famous Ban Gioc falls, whose banks are shared between Vietnam and southwest China. The loud, roaring waters from the mountains cascade from three tiers covered in vegetation and karst terrain and pool on a large basin. Tourists who come to the cataract are filled with its untamed power and beauty, with some even go for a short dip.
The main town (also named Cao Bang) has a mild climate and a laid-back atmosphere, enticing visitors to take a leisurely stroll, particularly to the nearby hills that offer a panoramic view of the province. Tourists can afterwards call it a day and settle in the town, which has few lodging options and great food choices.
