The Glossary
Ca Na is Vietnam's low-key take on a beach holiday, with its clear waters and white beach strewn with granite boulders. Its isolation makes it attractive for some who invariably find accommodation in HWY 1, which is near the fishing village. Located at the country's south-central shores, the town used to be a royal hunting ground for the Cham princes, where they would track tigers, elephants, and other exotic creatures. Today, this regal coast welcomes everyone, of noble blood or not.
Exploring the surroundings isn't a bad idea either, as there are a few temples that lie not far from the coast. They are Lac Son, a hillside pagoda and the Tra Cang Temple, a place of worship that straddles between Ca Na and Phan Rang. Though they may be quite a challenge to reach and cater mainly to the locals, the determined traveler will find a piece of local culture and a great view.
