Odesa is a city of charm, decadence, and vivacity. From its sun-kissed beaches to the confident and classy locals, visitors might leave here in agreement with Issac Babel's claim that this town has "more charm than any city in the Russian Empire." Or in this case, more charm than any other place in Ukraine.
The city's charisma springs from its buildings, which were once a part of the Russian empire's center for trade. Today, the structures still retain the opulence of their wealthy past but some parts suffer from a lack of prolonged maintenance. Nonetheless, there are still architectural achievements to see while taking a relaxing daytime stroll.
During summer or early autumn, the Deribasovskaya Street is at its most colorful. Another soothing area is the Primorskiy Parkway, from which visitors will see a monument of Catherine the Great. All over Odesa are neoclassical buildings that may soothe the eyes with their pastel tones.
Beyond Odesa's structural designs is the natural beauty of its popular beaches. The calm blue waters of the Black Sea might easily tempt a vacationer to plunge in. The Arcadia Beach is the peak of Odesa's exciting nightlife, as the coast is lined with a number of bars, discos, and other forms of night club entertainment. The beaches also thrive on partying locals, who welcome fearless foreigners to their buoyant club scene. The clearest beach in the area is Malibu, which also carries the same atmosphere as Arcadia.
Hungry travelers are not limited to local cuisine, with restaurants offering American, Mexican, Asian, Middle-Eastern, Jewish, and Italian dishes. Seafood addicts might salivate at the eateries' different options, thanks to Odesa's proximity to the ocean. Hearty meals are best washed down with south Ukraine's local beer, once described to be as good as the Czech's beer. Excellent wine options are a must-taste as well, particularly the famous Kagor from Moldova and the Massandra Portwine from Crimea.
