Dubbed as the "Gateway to the Golden Triangle," Thailand's tourist paradise, the city of Chiang Rai sits in a spectacular vista featuring the mountain areas of neighbor Laos. Bursting with scenic beauty, it is a soothing sight for tourists who have gotten sore from the same old things to be seen in the city. The government is energizing the place to become part of a tourist's already overwhelmed itinerary.
Apart from sight-seeing, however, there are still plenty to do and see around the town. With its rugged terrain, it is a haven for hikers, campers and trekkers looking for a little adventure.
