Named after the Malacca-born Malay who was able to marry a wealthy Bugis Sultan, the Hajjah Fatimah Mosque is one of the most interesting religious sites in the city-state of Singapore. This old mosque was built in 1846, the architecture of the building is predominantly British, but it is still successful in combining several architectural influences. Tourists who plan to visit the mosque should remember not to wear shorts, skirts or sleeveless tops. This is a place of worship and visitors should dress conservatively.
