The Manila Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Manila. It has been around for more than 400 years now. The very first cathedral was built out of nipa and bamboo which was damaged by a typhoon and razed by fire. Throughout its long history, it has been repaired, damaged and restored again several times. the latest renovation of the Manila Cathedral was finished in 1958 and is the one standing today. The Manila Cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin Mary in her role of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.
