New Zealand's contemporary culture is a mixture of British, Maori, American, Asian and Australian influences. The Hindu Diwali and the Chinese New Year are among the country's largest festivals. Pasifika, the planet's biggest Polynesian festival, is held annually in Auckland.
New Zealand shares with the mother tongue of Great Britain. This common language made many New Zealanders migrate to the UK.
New Zealand's cuisine and music resembles those of Canada, UK, Australia and the US, although New Zealanders inject Pacific qualities into their local culture. These Pacific attributes come in the form of kappa haka (song and dance) and waka ama (canoe racing).
