More about Lebanon costs
Lebanon's national currency is the Lebanese lira (LBP), locally called the Lebanese pound. The lira comes in denominations of 50.00 LBP (0.03 USD), 100.00 LBP (0.07 USD), 250.00 LBP (0.17 USD), 500.00 LBP (0.33 USD), 1,000.00 LBP (0.67 USD), 5,000.00 LBP (3.33 USD), 10,000.00 LBP (6.65 USD), 20,000.00 LBP (13.31 USD), 50,000.00 LBP (33.27 USD), and 100,000.00 LBP (66.53 USD). US Dollars are accepted in many establishments, but don't bother using travelers cheques. Expect to receive your change in pounds if you pay in dollars, so double check if you've been short-changed. ATMs are widely available in larger towns and accept credit cards such as Cirrus, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa, and Maestro. Budget restaurants and hotels only accept payment in cash.
The most inexpensive accommodations are offered by Bed and Breakfast establishments. Other cheap room rates can be found in local hostels found along the coast and mountain villages. Another cost-effective option for long-term travelers is rented furnished apartments. Their large size is practical for families and small-sized groups of travelers. Only deluxe and five-star hotels accept credit card as payment.
