Nong Khiaw Travel Guide
Nong Khiaw offers an exotic vacation, something which one may not expect to find in the parched landscape of an apparently dry Laos' northern region. Dust and the arid weather will initially confront those who have dared venture to this place for the first time. Locals are likely to welcome visitors as soon as they step out of the bus.
It only takes one look, however, for one to get hooked to the place since Nong Khiaw's backdrop is the stunning view of Luang Prabang mountain ranges. On The East is the snaking Nam Ou River, which invites tourists to get on a kayak and explore the nearby lands or watch the local fishermen gather their nets with the day's catch. The shore offers pockets of relaxation. The unique karst topography, on the other hand, is ideal for trekking and spelunking. Something extremely delectable to look out for is the Tham Pha Tok (a cave located on a cliff's face). And if these aren't enough to make visitors stay, then a walk around Nong Khiaw's main street fringed with various lodgings, shops, and restaurants will surely make them think twice.
