Privacy comes cheap in the lovely beach of Pandangbai, a small, solitary town east of Bali. Indonesia's "Blue Lagoon" and "Secret Beach" can be found here. Travelers running away from Bali's carnival atmosphere or Kuta's squadrons of surfers may find Pandang Bai's beach a tranquil place to stroll amid a line of colorful, marlin-shaped outrigger fishing boats parked on the shore, or a spacious alternative to snorkel for manta rays, crocodile fish, sharks and turtles.
Pandang Bai has a number of small hotels and backpacker homesteads offering home-like hospitality and cooking. The town also dabbles as a ferry port to travel Lombok, Gili Islands, and the Lesser Sunda Islands.
