The Chowkhang Gompa is one of the many gompas in Leh. Here you will find monks living here while studying Buddhism. It is also used as a place of worship to Buddha. It is an important building in Leh as it houses the office of Ladakh Buddhist Association. With hundreds of prayer wheels, visitors can upgrade their merit by spinning each one. You can never have too much merit anyway. Another reason for tourists to visit the Chowkhang Gompa is for the simple fact that it is a relatively quiet place, a change in environment from hectic Leh.
