The second largest of the Hawaiian Islands and the largest island in the Maui County, Maui accompanied by Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokai are the four gems that belong to this county. Rightly nick named as the "Shangri-la of the Pacific", Maui is blessed abundantly with perfect beaches, dramatic cliffs, exotic and tastefully designed resorts, greener than green rain forests and die hard list of interesting indoor and outdoor activities.
A favorite activity in Maui during the winter is watching the whales either from the shore and form a whale watching boat for a closer view. Humpback whales pay a visit to Maui usually in the winter and they come here for a purpose- to breed and give birth.
Maui's north shore draws water sport seekers from around the world. Apart from the coast line, Maui in the interiors is endowed with a lush waterfall fed Garden of Eden that beckons one and all. In these forest pocketed areas where hermits have carved a special paradise for themselves, willingly invite guests at their vacation rentals.
Explore the lava bombs and cinder cones at the volcanic summit of Haleakala, the House of the Sun.
Take a dip at the stunning black sand sea beach or in the cave pool where an ancient princess once hid.
Opulent and majestic gardens, gasp inducing pools and restaurants and 18 hole golf courses make Maui resorts one of a kind in the islands.
If you are more inclined to do the fun things, then head to Ulua Beach to swim with green sea turtles or spike a volley ball at Kalama Park. For the culture buffs, follow the Hoapili Trail that takes you through an ancient Hawaiian Village. If you are in the mood to unwind, then strum a guitar at a Maui cultural and arts center concert. Day dreaming at the pool or on the beach will not only fulfill your island fantasy but also the desire to explore diverse landscapes and moonlike terrains
