A home to the world famous beers and the capital city of Bavaria, Germany, and Munich is by far Europe's most expensive and prosperous cities. With a strong cultural scene, abundantly endowed art collections and power shopping, Munich has loads to offer than just light entertainment. It is a fantastic blend of the traditional charm and modern, chic style. Lots of tourists arrive to the city to practice winter sports and during the summer months of June and July, they enjoy the splendid weather as well as visit its famous museums, theatres and beautiful parks.
If you are contemplating your travel dates to Munich, then narrow it down to sometime in late September and early October during Oktoberfest, a traditional festival of Munich. It usually lasts for 2 weeks and beer plays a pivotal role in the beginning of the event. It also offers a merry mixture of side shows, traditional roundabouts, and sales stands selling delicacies, candy floss and other souvenirs. It is by far the most jubilant and vibrant carnival that displays Munich in its element.
Munich is a prime location for touring the Alps, visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle, the beautiful Cheimsee Lake or the historic towns and villages of Bavaria.
Marienplatz is the old town center of Munich and a great starting point for touring Munich.
The Munich Olympic Park where the Olympics were held is worth a stop as it hosts some of Munich's premier events and provides for a sporting and recreational avenue too.
Pay a visit to the most famous Munich's Augustine Beer Garden which is perhaps the oldest and exhibits a variety of 400 choices, so you have no excuse for notgoing!!
Don't miss the Nene Pinakotech which is an outstanding example of modern architecture with a commendable collection of French impressionists and modern art.
Munich also houses a varied and colorful night life from clubs and bars to traditional beer halls around Munchener Freiheit in Schwabing which is best known for its pompous night life.
