Poipet offers a smorgasbord of sights that constantly assaults the senses of the visitors. Certainly one of the most jaw-dropping borders of Cambodia, Poipet bristles not with tourist sites but trucks upon trucks negotiating through its crowded streets. The atmosphere is very ‘Wild West" sans the cowboys and horses. Donkey carts, bicycles, scooters, children carrying heavy bags, men and women moving in haste and vendors transporting their goods make up the scene of this side of Cambodia.
Gambling is one of the highlights of a trip to Poipet. From the professional to novice, anyone can stay here to feel the "Vegas vibe" just by sitting and trying a bet at the Caribbean stud poker table with some spectators eating chow mein. This dusty town may be chaotic but that is the true character of Poipet.
