Since the stunning remnants of Angkor Wat and Dharmasala of Banteay Chhmar & Banteay Top get the lion's share in the attention of visitors, perhaps Krong Koh Kong may interest them with its lush rainforests which remain largely unexplored. A fairly laidback village during daytime, Krong Koh Kong transforms at night with casinos, restaurants and establishments giving the pulsating rhythm to the heart of Cambodia.
Though the place has not much to offer to travelers, jungle trekkers still spend a day or two in this place, typically having an overnight camping near the Cardamom Mountain. If the sky is clear, visitors can take a speedboat from Krong Koh Kong to visit the nearby Koh Por and Tatai waterfall.
Nature-lovers should get a chance to take a peek at the Peam Krasaop Wildlife Sanctuary, where an impressive collection of wildlife such as leopards, sun bears, sambars and elephants live. For those who are fans of long walks, they may consider the one-kilometer mangrove trail which opens to a lovely vista of forests.
