Rangamati Travel Guide
Dubbed as the "Lake District" in Bangladesh, Rangamati is proud of its lush landscape and lake ringed by a dense tropical, evergreen forest. Visitors coming to Rangamati are lured by Kaptai Lake where traditional fishing methods are still in place. From the lake's promenade, visitors can enjoy a serene view of nature. A trek to a network of roads leads to the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Others prefer a quick dip in the lake's cool waters.
As a sanctuary of local vacationers during the scorching heat of summer, the district has been improved with hotels and inns around the lake, catering to the influx of tourists and locals who just want to take a breather from the mundane routines of city life. Aside from strolling around the lake, visitors can also drop by the residence of Chakma King, near the old Rajavana Vihara, a monastery and meditation center. A glimpse of the scenic lake with the Rangamati hanging bridge offers as a striking background to Rangamati.
After the day trip to the town's center, visitors can head to the Shuvolong Falls for a dip then proceed to the nearby Himchari National Park in Cox Bazaar. For those who fancy homespun textile products and ivory jewelry, they can visit the villages tucked near the lake to see the tribal folks fashion raw materials into veritable works of art.
