Just east of the German border is small Austrian village extraordinarily named as simply "F***ing. And no, it doesn't mean what you think it means.
It was actually derived from the name of a 6th century man, Focko, who had founded it. So, literally, it means "Focko's People".
The joke, isn't lost on many tourists, though. In fact, many visit it just to be able to take photographs beside the huge signs declaring the place as "F***ing, Austria.
Adding to the amusement of tourists is another sign that is usually posted under the F***ing sign, which is a reminder for drivers to stay under the speed limit: "Bitte - nicht so schnell".
Which, in German, means: "Please - not so fast."
