Bariloche is one of those rare holiday options which can be enjoyed for all the months of the year. It is known as "the American Switzerland" as it is a place dominated by snow and skiing in the winter. It is located on the Southern margin of Lake Nahuel Huapi. It has a fine combination of wooden and stone houses along with charming landscapes, which can be ideally captured on one's camera. It boasts of the the Cathedral Nuestra Señora del Nahuel Huapi, a building which was never completed but still has enough character to showcase its charm.
The Civic Center provides a combination of the City Council as well as the Tourism Secretariat and the Patagonia Museum. The Emilio Frey Venue is an ideal spot for all cultural events and art exhibitions.
Mitre Street is the main commercial area of Bariloche and displays buildings which are styled with Bariloche architecture, which is a combination of stone and wood, arcades, balconies and eaves all around them.
Beschtedt Street has an Antique building, the Chapel of the Immaculate, which is a Historic National Monument and is a must on every history lover's list.
Perito Moreno Street showcases some of the oldest houses in the city like Casa Marciani and Vivienda Speranza.
Excursions to places like Puerto Blest, Victoria Island, Cascada Los Cantaros Arrayanes Wood, Huemul Island and Lake Frias are attractive options which are available in Bariloche.
Lopez Hill, which passes by Swiss Colony has an altitude of 1,400 meters above sea level and makes an interesting option for sightseeing.
The Cerro Viejo Eco-tourist Park is located very close to Bariloche and can be easily reached within a ten-minute walk. It has a ski lift that bring tourists to the lookout point. Cerro Leones Park is an old hill and is approximately 15 kilometers from Bariloche. It contains the caverns that served as homes to many Antique aborigines.
Some activities which should not be missed in Bariloche are trekking, skiing, sailing, and paragliding.
