Tirana's "Natural Balcony," the Mt. Dajti National Park located in the capital of Albania, is a land of adventure that tempts one to go back again and again. Set in the shadows of the majestic Dajti Peak, it offers stunning scenery of lush green forests, interesting flora and fauna, and a wonderful panoramic view of the picturesque city below. A destination for any tourist, it is a great place for unwinding and relaxation - perfect for families looking to spend quality time together and for naturalists who want to go deep into unspoiled nature.

Found in the city's eastern side, the park spans a massive area of 3,300 hectares. Dominating its landscape are various trees and wild flowers. It is particularly famous for its beech plantations, believed to date back more than 200 years. There are also oak trees and the unique Heldreich pines, which are noted for their white bark. A veritable biosphere, it also provides sanctuary to a number of rare and endangered animal life. Among its protected species are mountain eagles, wild boars, black woodpeckers, foxes, otters, wildcats, eastern horseshoe bats and several others.

However, it should not merely be taken as a location earmarked for sightseeing alone. On the contrary, its diverse and rugged landscape provides perfect venues for hiking, rock-climbing and other adventure activities. Another great plus is the homely ambiance that makes it a great place to arrange family barbeque parties and picnics. Probably the most fascinating attraction of the park is the ride to and fro on the soaring cable car that offers both excitement and a bird's eye view of the entire terrain. It is no wonder that most tourists regard the park as the best destination in the city.
