Crime rates are very high in Venezuela, so be vigilant as you walk along with the crowds. Always be conscious of your belongings. There are many pickpockets especially in the cities. It’s not advisable for tourists to be in the outskirts as you might be ganged up or beaten until you surrender all your belongings. If you have doubts about the place, ask taxi drivers or locals you think are reliable.
