The Glossary
Kluay Khai - "a unique variety of banana indigenous to the country; it is known for being very delicious."
Wat Ratburana was built by King Boromaraja II in 1424 to be used as the final resting place of his brothers. They fought over the throne of the kingdom on elephant back and eventually killed each other. Today, it has become a tourist attraction as well as a solemn place of worship.
A tall prang, several garudas, statues, stuccos and nagas adorn Wat Ratburana. Within the prang of the temple is a crypt. This was opened while renovations were on going in 1957 and they found dozens of other historical relics in there. The relics can be seen in the nearby museum.
