Better known as the Temple of the Dawn, Wat Arun is probably the most published building in all of Bangkok. It can be found in post cards, books and magazines.
The design of the Wat Arun is centered on the elongated Khmer style tower known as a prang. This tall tower is then surrounded by four smaller towers. Before the Emerald Buddha was transferred to the Wat Phra Kaew, it made its home in this temple.
For those interested in simply looking at the Wat Arun, the best vantage point is from across the river. It looks better from a distance than up close anyway. But if you are that of a more adventurous type, then you can try to go up to the top of its central prang wherein you will have to go up very steep steps.
