Duty-free shop scams

Always be on the look-out for scams in Thailand. A known scam is accusing a tourist of shoplifting in duty-free shops at the Bangkok Airport. Then, the scammers will threaten the accused with long prison sentences, after which they will offer to make the problem "go away" for a price - around 10,000 baht or more. If this ever happens, never accept the terms, and contact your embassy to clear things up.
