With a number of rivers (Menik Gangga, Heda Oya, Kumbukka Oya) and reservoirs (Muthukandiya and Senanayake) surrounding Monaragala, it's no wonder the whole town is carpeted with lush rolling fields with the thickly forested Vadinahella Mountain overlooking the Uvu Province as a backdrop.
