Memories at Old Ford Factory is a historical building in Singapore. It was the site where the British made their historic surrender to the Japanese in 1942, thus ending the Battle of Singapore and starting the three dark years of Japanese occupation. Japanese corporation Nissan took over the factory during the occupation and used it to produce military trucks. After the war, Ford Motor Company took over control of the factory again and resumed operations in 1947 until 1980. By February 2006, the building was declared as a national monument. There is an exhibit in the building dedicated to the Second World War and the many battles that took place around the building. A Chinese calligraphic sculpture stands at the front of the museum which is known as He Ping, Chinese for peace.
