The Changi Memorial & Chapel serves as a beacon of hope. The chapel found at the courtyard of the museum was built by prisoners from the Changi prison. It is a monument for the people who stood faitful despite the trying times during the Japanese occupation. In the museum, visitors will find photographs, drawings and even personal items from the people who have experienced the agony of the Second World War. More than 50,000 soldiers and civilians were imprisoned during these years. Visitors to the museum can also watch videos entitled "Elizabeth Choy" and "Changi through the Eyes of Haxworth" which are screened regularly. Or, visitors can take a break from the sights at an open-air cafe found on the garden. The chapel also holds services every sunday at 9am and everyone is welcomed.
