Within the Walled City of Manila known as Intramuros lies the Ayuntamiento Building. This building was once the most breathtaking building in Intramuros during the Spanish occupation. It housed several Spanish government agencies during that time. The architecture was patterned on two European palaces, the Bramande and the Farnese. Ayuntamiento was also known as the Marble Palace. Unfortunately, this magnificent structure was ruined durign a bombardment in 1945. It was renovated in 1992 with the statue of King Philip II.
