Found inside the Walled City of Intramuros, the San Agustin Church is the oldest church in the Philippines. It was built in 1607 and no other building in the country can say that it is older than this church. Technically however, the current structure standing on the site is the third to be built there. The first structure was built in 1571 and it was the first religious structure built by the Spaniards on the island of Luzon. This was destroyed and a second church followed made of wood which was also destroyed in 1583. The third and final structure which still stands today was completed on January 19, 1607.
