The Glossary
Arak - "a triple-distilled spirit of grapes and is famous throughout the Middle East. It is colorless like water and tastes of aniseed which is introduced at the third distillation."
The Museum of Khalil Gibran is the final resting place of Khalil Gibran and is where 440 of his original paintings, drawings and artistic work are on display. Aside from his work, the museum also has a collection of furnitures and personal belongings of Khalil Gibran from his studio in New York City.
The current Museum of Khalil Gibran was the former Monastery of Mar Sarkis. It was bought by Khalil's sister in 1931 upon the request of the artist. By 1975, the monastery was renovated and expanded. Further expansion was done in 1995 to house even more exhibits.
