The Lao National Museum is a very interesting place to spend an afternoon as it chronicles the history of Laos as well as a documentation of the Siamese War. The problem is if you can understand it since everything is written only in Lao language. It would be wise to arrange for a local guide or interpreter before visiting the museum. On the first floor of the museum, visitors are treated to several pictures devoted to the archeology of the Mekong Valley. The second floor is then divided into several parts. Each of these divisions focuses on a different time in the country's history which dates back to 1353. The last few rooms of the Lao National Museum is devoted to the war and its effects on the country. Recently, the museum was called the Lao Revolutionary Museum.
