The St. John's Church was built over another church named C Crusaders church or St. Andrew's church in 1737. St. Andrews was part of the Templar's Fortress complex and was built in the 12th century.
St. John's Church is named after John the Baptist and is a Franciscan-Catholic Church. It is located at the southern end of the old city of Akko. Tourists can reach this Catholic Church either through street level or by walking along the walls.
